TARC Christmas Shoot

10.12.22

The Taranaki Air Rifle Club celebrated Christmas with a Barbecue and a new shoot format.  5 shot groups over 5 targets  on one card.  A calliper was used to measure the group size  and the smallest group average was the aim.  The smallest was by Frank Eustace closely followed by Paul Kuriger who despite being a new shooter with a new rifle is already showing he will be a top Air Rifle shooter.  Geoff Coubrough came in a close third .  Mark Evans with a break barrel Springer scored a tight just over a 1/2 inch group.  John Brogden turned up with a new  Springer Air Rifle he had just made  came in a close 5th.  Although it was the first time we had tried this format shooters enjoyed the challenge .  Geoff Coubrough worked out a spread sheet for the shoot and as more information comes in a handicap system will be generated to make the playing field level for different calibres and distances. Scores were in no particular order:   Mark Evans 2.775, John Brogden 2.867, Brian Cook 6.300, Tim W 2.964, Nigel Kay 4.447,  Karen Cook 4.662, Paul Kuriger 1.776,  John Costain 3.06, Frank Eustace 1.235, Geoff Coubrough 2.349.

We finished up with a cracker of a barby with thanks to Karyn and Brian Cook and Geoff Coubrough.

In conclusion I must say what a great year it has been.  Shooting wise there has been plenty of challenges to keep us on our toes and over our cuppa tea we have covered many interesting topics.  We all look forward to our Saturday mornings.
