Taranaki Air Rifle 17.12.22
Groups at 25 yds
Saturday turned out to be a very wet miserable day but shooting inside it wasn't a problem. Farmers know when you leave a glass of milk in the fridge the cream will always come to the top. So it was that Air Rifle shooter Geoff Coubrough proved. Geoff by his standards had been going through a rough patch but this day he brought his A game and was the cream of the crop. The competition was a total of 5 shots done 10 times. That is of course 50 shots in one string. It only takes one or two wayward shots to blow out a good score. Frank Eustace, Paul Kuriger and John Costain were the leaders of the bunch shooting first and had some very tidy groups. It wasn't to be enough because Geoff C. shooting last realised he couldn't make a mistake. With some tidy groups he was the winner. Quite regularly shooters are achieving 5 shot groups of .470 inch and under. I f .22 is deducted it gives a centre to centre measurement of .25 which is a group size of 1inch at 100 yd,s ( MOA Minute of Angle) total scores were: Geoff Coubrough 1.267, Frank Eustace 1.354, Paul Kuriger 1.806, John Costain 1.888, Shane Roberts 2.417, John Brogden 2.728, Aussie John 5.218.
It was a great days shooting and despite the rain everyone went home with a smile on their faces especially Geoff the cream of the crop.
