This week's update from Frank: -

Over a cuppa before shooting started the topic of the New Arms Regulations was discussed and the need for a submission to be put forward.  137 pages need to be scrutinised .  To my knowledge with over 100 years of target shooting there have been no incidents involving firearms in Rifle Clubs.  Probably the safest sport in N.Z.  So why change something that aint broke? Politicians want to make our gun laws safer, so they look at the Gun Clubs, but that is not where the problem lies.  It comes from unregistered owners that have never set foot inside Shooting Club door.  Shooting Clubs should be applauded for the work they do in promoting safe gun handling and range safety.  Not new regulations that will not make gun safety any better.

On another almost breathless day a good turnout of shooters shot at various targets out to 50metres.  New Shooter Keyleigh coached by  Grandad Tim scored 20/22 on various targets , a shooter that impresses others with her skill at such a young age.  Geoff  shot 26/30 on Field Targets but was cross with himself not getting a 10/10.  Tim using a Springer Air  Rifle got 9/10 on the duelling tree.  Frank had a 87 at 50metres and 9/10  and a 7/10 on Field Targets.  Nigel was asked how did you go?  He replied I did fantastic.  Not really sure what measure he was using. A 74 at 50metres was up there. Aus John shot 14 tree targets and didn't say how many shots.  John Cos shot well with 83 at 50 metres and 9/10 Field Targets , getting most improved last week he had a point to prove .  Mark with his trusty Springer shot very well 8/10, 9/10 .  The PCP users are starting to look over their shoulders at Marks scores.  Richard C.  Shot 9/11 drop downs, a very commendable score .

And now in Nigel’ s words a fantastic day was had by all.  Stay safe and see you all next week .

Frank
