This week's update from Frank: -

 Lunch at Opunake

Instead of air rifles or pistols we had knives and forks at the Surf Inn at Opunake for a great luncheon and with partners included  it was a great occasion that ever one enjoyed.  Geoff  gave a short speech and thanked every one for coming and thanked Aussie John for doing the arrangements.  After a super meal and some interesting conversations there were still some withdrawal systems.  So a decision to have a shoot at Eltham the next day was made.

Mark Evans was up for the challenge  and with his trusty Air Gun made the 4/10  club  as the newest member .  Congratulations Mark.   Wednesday shooters faced a cold wet morning and we shot inside at 20yds  at silhouettes. Several Carbines were used and Frank managed a 37/40  with his new 2250 Crossman .  John Costain was trying to find a sweet spot with barrel tuning.  In my view 20 yd’s  is just about the limit for butt fitted pistols but it was fun trying.  After saying that once Mark Evans outdoor at 40 metres with his pistol knocked over  a field target .  The impossible shot made possible.

Now to Saturdays morning shoot 2/7/22 .  Tim showed up with a classic BSA Springer with which he has his sights set on making the 44 Club.  Karyn Cook was showing every one how she could shoot two shots through the same hole.  After 40 shots at 12  1/2yds  Karyn was right on target with a total  of 369 .  Maybe it was a day for the ladies as new shooter Charlene Roberts shot a very respectful 309.  All bets will be off this coming Saturday as there could be 7 ,  2250 and 2240 Crossmans contesting for the Steve Smith Memorial over 15yds.  Add to the mix will be John Costain and Geoff Coubrough who were testing new Multi shot steel actions.  Competition will be keen. Shane Roberts , Tim Walker and Frank Eustace went to the 50 metre range.  Shane is starting to hit some tight groups at 30 metres.  Frank  was heard to mutter some thing about the so and so wind .  Maybe he was lucky Geoff wasn't shooting 50 metres to show him up.

Roll on next week, when all will be revealed who will  be top shot.

Cheers and may your pellets always fly straight,   Frank
