2023/24 Holiday Break

TARC 27.12.2023 to 06.01.2024

Saturday 6th Indoors

Silhouette Pistols with Target Multiplier: A real challenge to end the holiday shoots (Steve Smith Memorial Format). Nobody achieved a perfect 1600 score yet there were plenty of individual 10 multipliers and several maximum 400 rounds were evident.

Scores Geoff 1484, Nigel 903, Frank 1360, Mark 942, John 1136.

Mark and Nigel played a lower value strategy shooting pigs but this needed to be backed up with x10 multipliers which were not always made.

Changing angles, different heights very small targets all require a well prepared pistol and full concentration from the shooter.

Well done Geoff on taking the day with one of the clubs interesting formats.

Wednesday 3rd Practice Indoors

Silhouette Pistols: We all had Chronograph checks ranging from 4 -12 ft/lb and all capable of good results at 12.5 yards. Recordings highlighted the fps and power drop off for non regulated PCP units and everyone was interested to determine best working air pressure over a 10 or 20 shot round. Traditional format was chosen with rams, turkeys, pigs then chickens and all shooters had a clear first round.

Geoff was checking out some technical issues so not quite as good on the next couple of rounds. John and Frank wavered on the final round leaving the way clear for Mark to top score on a "practice day".

Mark was experimenting with a JSB pellet change from 13.4 grain to 14.3 grains, early days but promising.

Scores: (40) Mark 40, John 38, Frank 38, Geoff 36.

Mark and John took on the 4mm wide silhouette challenge for fun and both scored well. First time 10/10 score for Mark on this format and John was rather pleased with his 8/10.

Saturday 30th Outdoor Rifles

Field Target Scores (20): Rueben 12, Mark 10, Frank 15, John 12, Geoff 13, Nigel 12.

No perfect 10/10 rounds were achieved perhaps reflecting that the field targets have not been used for some months. At least one 50 metre dropdown was taken out by Geoff, Frank, John, Rueben and Nigel so nice shooting all and and some careful wind watching gave Frank a clear win under the format.

50 Metre Scores (100): John 86, Mark 52, Geoff 92, Frank 53, Nigel 74.

Geoff, John and Nigel settled into this format using the 160mm roundel with 13mm bull.

Wednesday 27th Practice

25 yard indoor rifle targets

Scores: Geoff 196, Mark 176, Frank 197, John 192

Best Bull of the day goes to John

Difficult to decide with Frank
on target.
