Practice for the Steve Smith Memorial Challenge September 16th. Steve was a respected and fondly remembered shooter at our club, we all want to do well and get our names on this trophy.
Target set up is a mix of silhouettes with a paper target multiplier, do you choose larger silhouettes and rely on a bull at the target?
Geoff demonstrated how, with a perfect pattern on the highest scoring silhouettes followed up with a 10 point bull. Several other shooters were touching on perfect runs but were challenged by the consistency required.
What are we after - 40 x 10 delivers a perfect score of 400 but then round after round ensues with chances to slip up at every air fill, magazine change and your own headspace.
A range of lower energy airgun target pistols were brought along being powered by CO2 capsules or compressed air often referred to as HPA at 850psi (high pressure air) or PCP at 3000psi (pre-charged pneumatic).
The club provides training and access to high pressure air from compressors and dive bottles with very reasonable rates to cover maintenance, inspection and compliance costs.
